Citicoline, sometimes also referred to as CDP Choline, is one of the best forms of choline available. Unlike GPC, which is better suited to physical activity in terms of side-benefits, Citicoline (CDP) actually has a number of reported side-benefits which directly affect cognitive functions and we believe that it is a more effective source of choline. Here's why.
It crosses the blood-brain barrier with ease, as it should. This is partly because it is naturally occurring within the brain during certain chemical processes, but also because there are studies which demonstrate its positive effects on mental energy and focus/concentration.
Furthermore, it is useful for improving memory retention³ and there are links to Citicoline improving visual function.⁴⁵
CDP Choline is said to increase the density of dopamine (the feel-good hormone) receptors in the brain⁶, as well as amplify the release of the vital hormones within the HPA (Hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal) axis of the brain.⁷
This choline compound forms one of the fundamental components of our Ultracholine® formula because of its highly-specific cognitive benefits.

Citicoline - as a stress suppressant
'Lockdown' (?) seems to have exacerbated my stress, to the extent that I have developed heart palpitations (Atrial Fibrillation).
I found Citicoline to be effective at calming my nerves and getting my heart rate down, so an effective 'mood stabiliser'.
At the moment I only take it when needed and I now consider it to be indispensable, and will carry some capsules with me.
Side effects? Memorable lucid dreams.

Does what it says on the tin
I've used Citicoline on and off for the last 4 years and I find it better suited to my cognitive requirements compared to DMAE ot Alpha GPC.
I take every other day as I am also using ginseng and ginko biloba and it can get a bit much at times. Otherwise taking on its own is a sure fire win in terms of processing info and having an abundance of mental energy to get you through the day.
Don't take later than midday though. In my case i find it interferes with my sleep.

I noticed the difference.
I have been taking the supplement for about 6 months and feel pretty good. I think it does help.

Citicoline effects
Excellent source of Choline. I prefer this over Alpha GPC for its effectiveness and digestibility.
